The articulated wagon marked as TWIN I was the response of freight wagon rental company AAE to the requirement for maximum flexibility in intermodal freight service. The 34-meter-long wagons can carry 40- and 20-ft containers as well as semi-trailers. Unlike previous models and thanks to the particularly deep pockets, even modern megatrailers can be accommodated. At the head end of the cars are support blocks for securing trailers. They remain on the cars even if the next load consists of containers. Support brackets for containers are also permanently on board. When they are not needed, they are stored above the center bogie. Compared to the versions with disc brakes, these cars are equipped with shoe brakes, which can increase the payload by 3 tons. The permitted maximum speed is 120 km/h without load and 100 km/h with load, regardless of the mainline class. These cars are also combined with other types for intermodal traffic.
