SBB Cargo International is expanding its Vectron fleet and has been purchasing leased locomotives from the leasing company MRCE (Mitsui Rail Capital Europe) since December 2021.
The newly developed design, nicknamed “Shadowpiercer,” is based on the original Alppiercer design and bears the leasing company’s basic MRCE color.
Typical of the Railcolor design is also the naming of the locomotives, which now bear the names and layouts of Swiss lakes on all four corners. Vectron’s fleet is equipped with the country packages Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands (DACHINL).
